Cerekote is not that thick, but I suppose if you made enough passes over the action, you would change the size of the action. I would use PLENTY of release agent and re-bed it. I had mine bedded after cerekoting, and there were no problems. I bedded my own rifle that had a coating that isn't quite as tough as the cerekote and didn't have any. Bedding a rifle increases accuracy by creating a precise fit between the stock and the action. This precise fit eliminates stress in the action and provides a solid foundation for an accurate rifle.. Before I fill any voids with modeling clay, I coat all of the metal parts with the release agent. This is an important, and time saving step.

I think I have talked myself into shooting a couple of groups through my rifle to determine the most accurate ammo/rifle combo. Then I intend to bed the action and first couple inches of barrel. Then fire the same groups to determine: A. Most accurate load before and after, and B. Is there a big difference between before and after.
Rifle bedding before and after. Before bedding your rifle—coating the stock’s interior with an epoxy resin—complete a dry run. Make sure all of the pieces fit together properly before applying the bedding material. Insert the action, followed by the trigger, magazine box, bolt, and bolt release. It was about. 3/4 moa rifle with factory ammo before and after bedding. Later when i started reloading, I was able to maintain 1/2 moa and less with certain loads. Now I just bed them as a precautionary measure to avoid problems rather than expecting a drastic accuracy impovemet, and that's the way I look at it now. On this rifle, I am performing a front and rear bedding job (no bedding through the mag well. You can see the gap in the mag well where I will allow the compound to seep down. It pays to clean up this seepage immediately after setting the action into the mortice. This Howa/Weatherby wooden stock is being prepared for full length bedding.
These changes can ruin good accuracy, if rifle was good before. 5. The Pillar bedding method nullifies the effect of changing wood or fiberglass in stocks, so the accuracy and rifle sighting in, is not affected during changes as in warping, bending, expansion, and after curing. 6. Bedding Increases accuracy, sometimes by up to 150 % in group size. A well bedded stock is an essential part of an accurate rifle. Pillar bedding helps ensure accuracy as conditions change. Historically, when rifles were equipped with wood stocks, as the wood expanded and contracted with changes in humidity and temperature, the point of impact and accuracy of the rifle was effected. bedding before or after finish. This is a discussion on bedding before or after finish within the Gunsmithing forums, part of the M14 M1A Forum category; I have bedded a few rifles but only after the stock has been finished. Is there any problem with bedding before the stock has been.
Rifle bedding is a process of providing a rigid and consistent foundation for a rifle’s operational components, by creating a stable and close-fitting bearing surface between the gun’s functional parts (i.e. the receiver housing the barrelled action) and its support part (i.e. the stock) that do not deform with pressure or shift under the shear stress of the recoil from firing. Before you prepare your gun for bedding, disassemble it first and take a look at the previous bedding job, if any. Remove the action from the stock and all the small parts including the trigger and magazine.. Bedding the rifle. Prepare the bedding compound or epoxy in a non-waxed container. Avoid whipping the mixture to prevent bubble. Once the bedding hardens, the rifle can be removed from the stock as normal. At that point the two-barrel support pillars can be removed or cut away and the barrel returned to a free float. After the receiver has been bedded, the barrel channel supports can be removed to free-float the barrel.
If the rifle is to be free-floated, just remove the high spots. This step needs to be repeated after final bedding. I have used the release agent that comes with the kit on hundreds of rifles and. Verify that pillars fit the action, (not the stock), and do this before they are trapped in epoxy. As I said, the pillars must fit the action, and for the Remington M-700 BDL, fitting pillars to the action, really means fitting pillars to the magazine box.. Just as when bedding a BDL rifle, your ADL bedding job will be completed in 2 steps. Glass bedding, also known as rifle bedding, acts as a medium to mate a rifle’s action directly to the stock with much tighter tolerances than any factory can accomplish. The recoil from a shot has enough force that it can jar the action, causing a little movement where the action meets the stock. This movement leads to inaccuracy and can also wear the stock over time. What we do is bed the.
Unitizing before or after bedding? This is a discussion on Unitizing before or after bedding? within the Accuracy forums, part of the M14 M1A Forum category; So in all the threads I have been reading about lately regarding bedding, unitizing, centerlining the front band to stock ferrule and coat hangars vs. BEFORE BEGINNING - MAKE SURE RIFLE ISNOT LOADED !!!!Action Bedding - Step-by-Step: 1. Begin by removing the action from the stock . 2. Remove the bolt, trigger assembly, safety and bolt stop from thereceiver . Rifle bedding is fundamental to rifle accuracy. The term bedding refers to the fit and stability of a barreled action within the rifle stock. If the fit and stability of the metal work in relationship to the stock is poor, the rifle will be in-accurate. Bedding a rifle with epoxy resin is the optimum method of obtaining a correct fit, long term.
It's time to let the bedding cure. Lie the rifle upside down with the weight on the rear of the action and about where the tape is on the barrel. Let the gun sit for about 8 to 10 hours or overnight. IMPORTANT, you should remove ALL the excess mud around the action before you let the rifle cure for this time period. Before and after: The lower target shows a rifle's glass bedding that had failed causing erratic groups; the upper target shows the proof of a properly bedded rifle. Don't forget the action screws, floor plate and any parts that will be installed into the stock while the compound is curing. The bedding compound is usually a two-part epoxy with.
